Who do you think you are?

We live in a world where we have so many influencers in our lives that it becomes a struggle just being "me".

If that wasn't the case, then the media would not be making money out of promoting the latest "how to get a body like ________________(insert celebrity of choice)".  Now I'm not saying there is anything wrong with getting inspiration from people, but if it is to the point that we want to be anything but ourselves, then Houston we have a problem!

As a fitness trainer I am committed to inspiring people to enjoy the journey as they go through their body transformation. There is no point in having a great body, but then your mind is a hot mess!

I love this quote by Coco Chanel;
"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different."

Now she may have been speaking from a fashion perspective, but I take it from a life perspective!!! " Think about it. That diversity or difference comes from embracing our individuality and not living under the pressure to be like Beyonce, Rhianna or Kim K. If God wanted us all to look them same, then he would have created us that way!

So on the road to becoming fitter, stronger or slimmer, always remain true to who you really are!!!

Try me on a Thursday

I'm bringing tasty back!

Yes its been a while since the last Try-me-on-a-Thursday post, so you will be pleased to note that the hiatus is over.  I am committed to inspiring YOU to go vegan one dish at a time, so with that said, I am kicking things off with a quick one pan dish which is a fusion of veggies, spaghetti and noodles - I call it The Spanoodle Stir Fry!

Spanoodle Stir fry (Vegan & Gluten Free!!)
(Nutrition per serving: 330kcals)
Ingredients

200g Frozen stir fry vegetables
100g Frozen mixed vegetables
100g Rice noodles (break into tiny pieces)
200g Gluten free spaghetti (again break into tiny pieces)
25g Minced ginger
1 clove minced garlic
1TBP Mixed Herbs
1tsp Paprika
A few sprigs of basil (just tear them up!)
2-3 pumps of any low calorie spray oil (I used rapeseed)
300ml vegetable stock (300ml water with one veg stock cube)

Method

-Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan (on a low-medium temperature), then stir-fry all the ingredients for 2-3mins (apart from the noodles, spaghetti and vegetable stock)

-Slowly add the noodle and spaghetti pieces whilst pouring the vegetable stock in the pan

-Cover the pan and leave to cook for 10-15mins (keep an eye in it so that the stock doesn't dry out the and burn the dish!!)

-Simply serve in a bowl and you are ready to dine!!!!

This has become one of my go to dishes on days when you don't have time to be chopping and boiling things in multiple pans (and then have to wash them all afterwards!!)!  My family love spaghetti dishes and noodle dishes, so I decided to blend the two elements together and pack it with frozen veggies that we all have in our freezers and BOOM this bad boy was made!!

Feel free to play around with the spices you use.  I'm not into chillies personally (but do add them if that is your thing!) hence why I went for ginger to give it a kick instead.  If you are looking to replace the noodles and spaghetti for a carb free option, then you can just spiralize some courgettes instead!   You can also throw in some lentils, chickpeas or even tofu chunks to add in some protein to this powerhouse of a dish!

Happy Eating folks!! :-)

I had a great time working out with an amazing bunch of people at the first BYBW event of the year!! In 2hrs we managed to pack in some Zumba, Boxercise and African dance! We had so much fun that we didn't want to leave!!

Doing such events is just a reminder of why I love doing the job that I do! I am so committed to building a community of people who are passionate about making positive lifestyle changes and have fun whilst doing it!

We are making each BYBW event bigger and better each time.  So for those of you who missed out,  I challenge you to tell your friends and come on down to the next event!!

Let me know what type of workouts you want to see and if you want to set up something locally to you. Last year we ran a few events at children's centres, churches and school holiday camps! So if you want us to set up something at your workplace, I'd love to hear from you!!

Happy Sunday x

Staying focused in 2016!

Happy 2016 All!

Its no secret that we are very good at making resolutions at the beginning of the year, but somewhere down the line, we lose focus. Whether it's to get fit, loose weight or to resolve to never make a resolution again, why is it that we find ourselves not meeting the mark? Well here are my top 5 tips for keeping you focused in 2016;

1 Don't look to far ahead - It's great to think big and beyond today, but it sure helps to break up your long term goals into medium and short term, as well.  This allows you to be successful at achieving the little things and makes the big picture not so scary!

2.Review what has worked - Using your past successes can help to give you the confidence that you can be successful again.

3.Expect challenges  - Our goals need to make room for obstacles as they WILL be there. So it its good to know what they could be and how we can respond to them.

4.Surround yourself with like minds - The only people who can really appreciate what you are undertaking are those who are going through it or have been through it. So don't lose focus by just drifting with the crowds.

5.Change your language - Once you have set your goal, you need to start talking like a winner! I have done the opposite so many times and boy did it take me away from where I wanted to be.  Words are so powerful, so let us start using words to build ourselves up !

I am going to be______________ in 2016!!!

Let me know what tips you have for staying focused x
