It's no secret that we live in an overly body conscious world. Some want to look older, younger, bigger, smaller etc. But the truth is, nobodys perfect. Don't get me wrong, I think it is important to take care of ourselves from the inside and out, but not to the point that we become something that we are not.
Some spend thousands on cosmetic surgery in the hope of becoming a "better" version of themselves. Others buy skin brightening/tanning lotions, or dare not go out without some sort of minimizer/maximisers on! The list is endless!!
Believe me, I know how it feels not to be happy with how you look or feel. But once the diets, workouts and reconstructions are complete, how many of us can truly say that we love ourselves?
Learning to love yourself is a daily project, because it really is a process. To me, loving yourself is embracing the imperfections that we can't change and building on our inner beauty. There is a great proverb which says "out of the heart, the mouth speaks". Think about it. How many times have we thought negatively about ourselves that it manifests itself in the words that we say to others and ourselves. When all is said and done, if you achieve the goal of looking like a supermodel and you have a bad attitude, then you are just creating a negative cycle.
A lack of loving ourselves is the reason why some people can't compliment others and would rather be negative, because they are battling deep seated insecurity issues. So the next time you encounter an ill timed comment or you are giving yourself a hard time, try to;
-Remember that we all have perfections
-Hurting people are hurtful people
- Dont beat yourself up about the things you can't change
- Take care of yourself, so that you can be there for others
- Remind yourself of all the good things about yourself instead of highlight the not so great stuff
- Pay a genuine compliment to someone you know that may not be so happy with themselves
- Surround yourself with positivity
-Embrace your individuality and be uniquely you!
