It's day 15, which means we are half way through the juicing challenge!! Whether it's been having one glass of juice a day or enjoying raw meals during the day - well done you!! And if you are new to the challenge, it's never too late to get started.
So today we are going to be looking at the health benefits of oranges and lemons.
Oranges
Oranges are usually everyone's favourite fruit bowl staple. They are one of the sweetest citrus fruits and
are rich in vitamin C, which helps to build our immune system and fight infections.
They are also a great source of fibre which helps you to fill fuller for longer as well by helping the body to get rid of those bad fats (LOL cholesterol) and controlling our blood sugar levels.
All in all, Oranges are amazing for keeping you looking good on the inside and out.
Lemons
You would be forgiven for thinking that lemons are acidic due to their sour taste, however they actually have an alkalizing effect on the body!
Lemons are another great source of vitamin C and often used to help relieve cold and flu symptoms. They also have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, so can be used to relief itching from allergies and other skin irritations.
It's great to start the day with a glass of hot water and lemon, they help to kick start the digestive system and help to eliminate toxins from the body. The fibre (pectin) in lemons also helps to keep hunger pangs at bay, so definitely a detox essential fruit!
